There’s an old saying about the length of the months:

“30 days hath September, April, June and November.  All the rest have 31.  Except for Dry January which has 4,879.”

Here at the Varsity Hotel Cambridge we stand ready to assist you through this hard month.


Time of Change

January is always a peculiar time of year.  December is hectic and bustling, driving relentlessly towards the new year.  So when we reach that new year we tend to feel that we’ve really achieved something.  That everything is now different.  Then we wake up a week or so later after a bit of a rest and realise that we’re still in the middle of winter.

And that nothing has really changed.  Or will change.  Unless we make it change.  This is the poetry of the New Year.  It is a symbolic opportunity for all of us to choose to change the parts of our lives we’re not too fond of.

What form this change takes is unique to each and every one of us.  Some of us may choose to give up alcohol for a while – though that often makes the month seem extremely long.  And/or to try to live healthier lives in general.  While others may decide to take the opportunity to work on that grand project we’ve been putting off forever because we never seemed to have the time.


A Little Help

But the inescapable truth is that when it comes to making positive changes to our lives, we could all use a little help.  The decision to change is important.  But the endurance to stick with that change is hard.

At the Varsity Hotel we have a number of methods and options to help you stick with any change you choose to make.  True, if you decide that you want to use the time to write a novel or set up a You Tube channel then there’s not much we can do to help out.  But to lead a healthier life in general?  Yes, definitely!

Our Glassworks Gym and Spa boasts a wide array of classes and facilities to help boost health and fitness.  Our personal trainers are literally professionals in the art of motivation to gain physical fitness.  Consult with them to plan out a bespoke fitness program tailored to your own body and pre-existing fitness levels.  And then let them motivate you into keeping it up!

Or perhaps you have a niggling little injury that could use some attention.  Our sports physiotherapists excel at diagnosing and treating just such minor injuries.  And teaching you how to strengthen yourself against repeated injuries in the future.
